Review
I found The Elephant Scientist to be fascinating.  The book is wonderful, giving the reader a real look at the scientific process.  The Elephant Scientist follows the work of author Caitlin O’Connell’s research on elephant communications; from the formation of her hypothesis that elephants can communicate through vibration that they sense through their feet to the performance of her experiments and collection of data.  O’Connell and Jackson build suspense into their narrative in their presentation of the scientific process, as well as educate readers on the traits and habits of elephants in the wild.  The book is also beautifully illustrated with full color photographs taken by O’Connell and her husband and research partner Timothy Rodwell.  This is the kind of book that builds fascination in a subject; every child who reads The Elephant Scientist will want to become a scientist too.
